Bachelor & Master Theses
Our group offer various topics for bachelor & master's thesis work every semester.
We try to integrate student theses closely into our research work. Thus the available topics might vary on monthly basis. If you are interested in joining our labs, please simply contact our team to set up a visit. In general, the topics are within these fields:
1: Optical microscopy and of single quantum emitters
- Assisting the construction of a mini-cryostat (with temperature reaching 4 Kelvin)
- Performing high-resolution spectroscopy on molecules
- Characterize photophysics of molecules in matrices
Knowhows you will acquire: cryogenic technology, narrow-linewidth lasers, precision spectroscopy
2: Chiral optical fields and their interaction with atoms and molecules
- Generation of structured chiral optical fields
- Extract and analyze chiral information of the sample
Knowhows you will acquire: laser, structured chiral optical fields, vacuum technology
3: Cryogenic buffer-gas molecule beam source
- Assisting the assembly of a cold molecule source
- Generating a cold beam of molecules
- Laser photon-ionization and spectroscopy
Knowhows you will acquire: vacuum, cryogenic technology, pulsed lasers, electron & ion detection
4: Optical detection of magnetic resonance
- Get familiar with a room-temperature fluorescence microscope
- Integrating microwave circuits to drive magnetic resonance
- Perform combined optical and microwave measurements
Knowhows you will acquire: solid-state sample preparation, single-photon detection, microwave electronics
